Referee Clinics
Aberdeen Soccer contracts with up to 100 different referees from around the Midwest in any given year to provide referee services for
ASA sponsored games. During any one season, there are 70-80 registered referees living in the Aberdeen area. While we have one of the largest concentrations of experienced referees in the state, there are still many times when we have trouble providing officials for all games. This is due to the large volume of games in our area and also due to the fact that many of our referees serve dual roles in Aberdeen Soccer. They are coaches, players, administrators, etc.
Because of this, Aberdeen Soccer is always looking for new referees. ASA works in conjunction with the South Dakota State Soccer Assocation (SDSSA) and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) to train and register as many Aberdeen area referees as possible. New referee clinics are offered in the spring and in the fall. New referees must attend an 8 hour “Recreational Referee” entry level course and pass a 50 question exam. If you would like more information or have questions about referee clinics or the ASA referee program in general, please contact Tom Hilsendeger.
